November is always an interesting transition month, leaving behind the beloved month of October and venturing closer to the Christmas/Holiday Time of the year, as horror fans attempt to recover and battle with those in our families that find themselves addicted to the Hallmark Christmas bash. But for myself it is more viewing of what others have chosen for me, aside from three films on the list. Therefore let’s begin there, the first film is The Final Countdown [1980], a movie from Lloyd Kaufman who had a tiny role and was associate producer, but that is not the reason I selected the movie; it was because my father enjoyed it very much and November 17 was his birthday I feel it is a nice way to honor him. A deeper reasoning is that he was US Marine and served during World War II in the Pacific fighting the Japanese on various Islands and Northern China, and I am proud to be the son of a Marine. Thanks Dad. The second film selected for November 18 was Hold That Ghost [1941], my father primarily enjoys nonfiction books and films but had a soft spot for the comedic team of Abbott and Costello, hence I selected this film. The third film was Thanksgiving [2023] which was an easy selection and something most horror fans thoroughly enjoyed.

Therefore, allow one to dive into those all-important numbers, I saw 37-films, and included two days off for various reasons, of those movies the 1980s was the most popular with 11-films, and the oldest film on the list and that celebrated anniversary was The Ghoul [1933] followed by two eighty-year-old films The Return of the Vampire [1943] and The Mad Ghoul [1943] which as no connection the previous mention 1930 film. One will notice a few other movies on the list I’ve seen before and lesser quality, this extends in two different directions. The first friends are always selecting films in my vast collection to watch, and they want me to revisit past reviews to see if my viewpoint has changed. Lastly, there was just one television horror film and a documentary which was Hitchcock/Truffaut [2015].
