The December viewing is always a mixed bag, with the Christmas /Holiday themed movies dominating the watchlist and a scattering of other films, therefore let’s recap the final journey of 2022. First, let’s review the four films that emerged in 2022, among them were three seasonal themed and one other special film. Violent Night [2022], okay its not horror but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and then The Mean One [2022], which sorry was not that good lacked on good special effects and poor line choices, then Christmas Bloody Christmas which had some connections back to Copping Mall [1986]. As for the fourth that was fairly good Ash and Bone, which associate producer Joseph Williamson directly sent a polite inquiry to review their film and I liked it. There will be a few films that shall have some scratching their heads in confusion, for example Psycho [1960], well the title card at the beginning of the film states December 11, though its true nowhere else in the film does it reference the holiday season it was only done because of the city decorations were up, and hence it’s a simple fix. In addition, there’s The Mummy [1932] and the oldest film on the list at 90-years old was released in December of that year, and the dual set of Scream films 1 and 2 again as before both released respectively released in December, the first was a sleeper hit. The only other movie likely to standout is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989) clearly not horror except for the chainsaw scene but – oh please it’s just funny, we all need humor and laughs. In closing a total of 42 films with the 80s as the most popular decade with 12 films representing it and closely followed by 2010 with 11 flicks.
