The month of October is always a thoroughly packed month, as fans of horror films and lovers of THE Halloween season it’s tough from a slew of new horror films flooding Blu-rays, DVDs, every streaming service rolling out countless movies and then the classics swirling before your eyeballs makes for a changeling endeavor not to mention all those outdoor activities. All of it overwhelming, even for the most hardcore fan to devote their time. However, the list below reflects my best efforts, it shows that I split my time, as it is 66-films less than last year, though I would state it is fewer than in 2020, since those years were covid effected. Let’s dive into the numbers, first 152-films viewed, is a lot I had seen before, but it’s a time for classics, which brings me to the oldest films first Nosferatu and Haxan both from 1922 hence celebrating 100-years of horror immortality, though often overlooked by modern audiences due to them being from the silent era. Then Dracula ad Frankenstein from 1931 checking in at 91-years-old, followed by a trio of flicks, The Mummy, The Old Dark House, and finally The Vampyr all from 1932. Unlike previous years where it was the attempt at watching all originals it had more of friends searching through my vast film collection; for example, on one day we had a viewing party of watching 6-films of Vincent Price. This led to having a franchise day of Halloween, mainly because of Halloween Ends was on the calendar, though I consider the film to be Halloween Lame, then we had creature feature day and finally due to a special edition of Dawn of the Dead [1978] in 3D we had that franchise including the remake from 2004. Therefore, made sure to have a lot of fun, especially with 1980 decade winning the most films with 39.
