There were plenty of interesting films this past month, the trend definitely, how many anniversary films could I possibly see, it is a lot, 54-movies in 30-days but the subgenre’s diversity was very curious indeed; from extra-large monsters to paranormal films, to found footage and shark flicks, the slashers, psycho thrillers two of the movies on the list The Thing [1982] and The Black Phone [2021] were seen in the theater, and nothing quite like seeing a film on a large screen with the booming sound. As with last month’s Visions of Horror let’s dive into the details, first the most popular year or decade it was 2021 with 12-movies and then 8-movies in the 80s, followed that with 27-films celebrating anniversaries. Again, noting that if a film came out in 2022 it is not celebrating an anniversary at minimum it must 5-years, and speaking of that there 5-films celebrating their 65th, which was the oldest number and include The Vampire, The Monster That Challenged the World, I Was a Teenage Werewolf, The Curse of Frankenstein, and The Unearthly. Lastly the two Alfred Hitchcock films were Frenzy [1972] and Family Plot [1976], obviously the 1972 film is up for a review this year.
