Yes, another week has past by as we proceed with this strange 2020 year, and puzzling Halloween. Once again movies on this list can crossover into other days, the toughest we have starting the week off is the topic of zombies, virus verses undead, therefore it needs 2-days for proper coverage.

WEEK 2 OCTOBER 11th to 17th

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11TH – ZOMBIES (VIRUS)

28 Days Later [2002] – Animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees while ignoring warnings about a virus, releasing them leading to disastrous results affecting all of humanity. As like other zombie flicks on this list, the fans enjoy watching the sequel to this one called 28 Weeks Later [2007].

Carriers [2009] – As a lethal virus spreads globally, four friends seek a reputed plague-free haven. But while avoiding the infected, the travelers turn on one another.

Night of Something Strange [2016] – Teenage friends out for beach week get unexpectedly detoured to an isolated motel where a deadly STD virus now runs rampant, turning those infected into the living dead. But there’s so much going on here, that its truly sick and disgusting.

Rabid [1977] – A young woman develops a taste for human blood after experimental plastic surgery, and her victims turn into blood-thirsty zombies, leading into a city-wide epidemic.

Resident Evil [2002] – A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists, workers and staff at Umbrella’s Hive complex who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident. The beginning of learning about the primary character Alice.

Shivers [1975] – The residents of a suburban high-rise apartment building are being infected by a strain of parasites that turn them into mindless, sex-crazed fiends out to infect others by the slightest sexual contact.

The Crazies [1973]The military attempts to contain a manmade combat virus that causes death and permanent insanity in those infected, as it overtakes a small Pennsylvania town, another George Romero flick and was remade in 2010.

The Stuff [1985] – A delicious, mysterious goo that oozes from the earth is marketed as the newest dessert sensation, but the tasty treat rots more than teeth when zombie-like snackers who only want to consume more of the strange substance at any cost begin infesting the world.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 12TH – ZOMBIES (UNDEAD)

Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror [1981] – An archaeology professor discovers an ancient crypt which contains living dead corpses. The zombies go on a rampage and attack a group of people which the professor had invited to celebrate his discovery.

City of the Living Dead [1980] – A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from their graves, director was Lucio Fulci.

Dawn of the Dead [2004] – Survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, fast, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall.

Hell of the Living Dead [1980] – After an experiment gone wrong, a virus that turns people into zombies spreads throughout New Guinea, whilst a female reporter and her cameraman and a team of four commandos sent to investigate try to survive the onslaught.

Night of the Living Dead [1968] – The George Romero classic, likely found on everyone’s must watch list, the Halloween season, it starts with Barbra and Johnny visiting their father’s grave in a remote cemetery when they are suddenly set upon a zombie. However, more of the undead are coming back to life, and other survivors gather at a farm house. The cemetery used in the film can be respectfully visited in Evans City, Pennsylvania and some fans do make an annual marathon of watch first the 5 sequels and then the 5 remade versions.

The Return of the Living Dead [1985] – When a bumbling pair of employees Frank and Freddy, at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause a corpse in their morgue to re-animate among other things too, leading to more chaos with more of dead rising from their graves as they go on a rampage through Louisville, Kentucky seeking their favorite food, brains while battling a select bunch of punks. An Incredible fun, comedic horror movie with a killer soundtrack! Many fans tend to watch the 4 sequels with this one.

Shaun of the Dead [2004] – Shaun (Simon Pegg) doesn’t have a very good day uneventful life is disrupted by the zombie apocalypse; while he tries winning back his ex-girlfriend.

Train to Busan [2016] – While a zombie virus breaks out in South Korea, passengers struggle to survive on the train from Seoul to Busan.

Zombie [1979] – Strangers searching for a young woman’s missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead. The most incredible scene Zombie versus Shark and director was Lucio Fulci.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13TH – EXTREME

A Serbian Film [2010] – An aging porn star agrees to participate in an “art film” in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a sadistic and necrophilia themed snuff film.

Antichrist [2009] – A grieving couple retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage, but nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.

Antropophagus [1980] – A group of friends and a hitchhiker become stranded on a tourist island where they are stalked by a disfigured cannibalistic killer who is prowling the island after killing its residents.

Audition [1999] – A widower takes an offer to screen girls at a special audition, arranged for him by a friend to find him a new wife. The one he fancies is not who she appears to be after all.

Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood [1985] – Late at night, a woman is kidnapped by an unknown assailant and taken back to his blood-spattered dungeon, where he turns her into a “flower of blood and flesh” through a series of dismemberment and evisceration.

Found [2012] – A horror-obsessed boy discovers his older brother is a serial killer.

High Tension [2003] – Best friends Marie and Alexia decide to spend a quiet weekend at Alexia’s parents’ secluded farmhouse. But on the night of their arrival, the girls’ idyllic getaway turns into an endless night of horror.

Hostel [2005] – Three backpackers head to a Slovak city that promises to meet their hedonistic expectations, with no idea of the hell that awaits them, directed by Eli Roth and fans often watch Part II [2007] and Part III [2011].

The Girl Next Door [2007] – Follows the unspeakable torture and abuses committed on a teenage girl in the care of her aunt and the boys who witness and fail to report the crime, based from Jack Ketchum’s book of the same name and a true crime from 1965.

Zombie Holocaust (AKA: Doctor Butcher) [1980] – The members of an expedition in search for the last faithful of Kito, the cannibal god, land on a small island in the Moluccas (East Indies) and are soon hunted by cannibals and zombies, these being created by a sinister Doctor O’Brien who is experimenting with corpses. Suzan, eventually takes a hold on things, as she is accepted as queen of the cannibals, and direct them against the mad scientist and his army of zombies.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14TH – NATURE RUN AMOK!

Alligator [1980] – A baby alligator is flushed down a Chicago toilet and survives by eating discarded laboratory rats injected with growth hormones. The small reptile grows gigantic, escapes the city sewers, and goes on a tragic rampage.

Day of the Animals [1977] – The depletion of the earth’s ozone layer causes animals above the altitude of 5000 feet to run amok, which is very unfortunate for a group of hikers who get dropped off up there by helicopter just before the quarantine is announced.

Grizzly [1976] – An eighteen-foot grizzly bear figures out that humans make for a tasty treat. As a park ranger tries rallying his men to bring about the bear’s capture or destruction, all to save the day, also from director William Girdler, and does contain some offensive language.

Pet Sematary [1989] – The guts of the story from Stephen King, start after tragedy strikes, a grieving father revisits an ancient burial ground, previously shown by Jud (Fred Gwynne [Herman Munster fame]) behind his home with the power to raise the dead.

Piranha [1978] – When flesh-eating piranhas are accidentally released into a summer resort’s rivers, the guests become their next meal. A munchy tale from director Joe Dante, that starred one of his favorite actor Dick Miller, and a devious Barbara Steele.

Prophecy [1979] – A Savage beast, grown to monstrous size and driven mad by toxic wastes that are poisoning the waters, spreads terror and death on a Maine countryside.

Tarantula [1955] – A spider escapes from an isolated Arizona desert Professor Gerald Deemer’s (Leo G. Carroll) laboratory experimenting in giantism and grows to tremendous size as it wreaks havoc on the local inhabitants. Try to find the uncredited cameo appearance of a young Clint Eastwood.

The Food of the Gods [1976] – A group of friends travel to a remote Canadian island to hunt, only to be attacked by giant killer animals which have populated the place, based on a portion of H.G. Wells’ novel and directed by Bert I. Gordon.

Them! [1954] – The earliest atomic tests in New Mexico cause common ants to mutate into giant man-eating monsters that threaten civilization.

Willard [1971] – A social misfit, Willard (Bruce Davidson) is made fun of by his co-workers, and squeezed out of the company started by his deceased father by his boss (Ernest Borgnine). His only friends are a couple of rats he raised at home, Ben and Socrates. (And their increasing number of friends) However, when one of them is killed at work, he goes on a rampage using his rats to attack those who have been tormenting him. The story is based from Stephen Gilbert’s novel.

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15TH – AMUSEMENT PARKS

Dark House [2009] – A troupe of actors hired for a haunted house attraction, headed by Jeffrey Combs soon find that they are working in a true house of horror.

Dark Ride [2006] – A group of six friends on a road trip stop off at an amusement park attraction named ‘Dark Ride’, unaware that a psychopath who brutally murdered two girls, has just escaped a mental institution and is seeking refuge there.

Extremity [2018] – Allison, a young woman with a severely troubled past who signs up for an extreme haunt called Perdition. She believes that putting herself through Perdition’s nightmarish trials will help her exorcise her internal traumas, but has no way of knowing just how shocking her ordeal will be-or what dark secrets buried in her psyche will emerge.

Hell Fest [2018] – A masked serial killer turns a horror-themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.

Scare Zone [2009] – Scare Zone is OLIVER’s pride and joy. Sure, it’s just another strip-mall Halloween Horror House, but as always, he’s put his heart and soul into it. The attraction is open for three nights only, and Oliver has brought back his old staff, and a bunch of newbies, while someone or some-thing is out to make the horror REAL.

Scream Park [2012] – Fright Land amusement park is closing down for the last time. Lack of business and interest have led to poor sales and no profit. The park’s owner, Mr. Hyde (played by Doug Bradley) devises a scheme to sell tickets once again.

The Funhouse [1981] – Four teenage friends spend the night in a carnival funhouse and are stalked by a deformed man in a Frankenstein mask, directed by Tobe Hooper.

The Funhouse Massacre [2015] – Six of the world’s scariest psychopaths escape from a local Asylum and proceed to unleash terror on the unsuspecting crowd of a Halloween Funhouse, whose themed mazes are inspired by their various reigns of terror.

The Maze [2010] – Five friends break into a closed corn maze in the middle of the night and decide to play a harmless game of tag. Little do they know that a psychopathic killer has decided to play along.

The Scarehouse [2014] – Two years after a tragic accident, six college girls are invited to a party inside an elaborate Halloween funhouse. Once inside, the girls realize their hosts’ intentions are not all fun and games.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16TH – BUGGY/ CREEPY CRAWLERS

Bite [2015] – While on her bachelorette party getaway, Casey, the bride to be, gets a seemingly harmless bite from an unknown insect. After the trip, Casey discovers that everything can change with a single bite.

Bug [1975] – An earthquake releases a strain of mutant cockroaches with the ability to start fires, which proceed to cause destructive chaos in a small town. Then scientist James Parmiter, turns into a mad doctor discovering more destructive consequences of these hideous creatures.

Creepshow [1982] – An anthology which tells five terrifying tales inspired by the E.C. horror comic books of the 1950s; the fans know which scenes I speak of for including it under this heading. In addition, it has a great cast that included Hal Holbrook, Leslie Nielsen, Adrienne Barbeau, Ed Harris, Tom Atkins and Tom Savini , while written by Stephen King and directed by George Romero

Kingdom of the Spiders [1977] – Investigating the mysterious deaths of a number of farm animals, vet Rack Hansen (William Shatner) discovers that his town lies in the path of hordes of migrating tarantulas. Before he can take action, the streets are overrun by killer spiders, trapping a small group of towns folk in a remote hotel.

Mimic [1997] – Three years ago, entomologist Dr. Susan Tyler genetically created an insect to kill cockroaches carrying a virulent disease. Now, the insects are out to destroy their only predator, mankind.

Squirm [1976] – A storm causes some power lines to break and touch the ground, drawing millions of man-eating worms out of the earth, and into town where they quickly start munching on the locals.

The Nest [1988] – Horrifying shocker as a biological experiment goes haywire when meat-eating mutant roaches invade an island community, terrorizing a peaceful New England fishing village and hideously butchering its citizens, based on Eli Cantor’s novel.

The Thaw (2009) – A research expedition to the Arctic discovers that a melting polar ice cap has released a deadly prehistoric parasite.

Ticks [1993] – A group of troubled teenagers are led by social workers on a California wilderness retreat, not knowing that the woods they are camping in have become infested by mutated, blood-sucking ticks, it also stars Clint Howard.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH – FOUND FOOTAGE

Demon House [2019] – Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans documents the most authenticated case of possession in American history in Gary, Indiana.

Grave Encounters [2011] – For their ghost hunting reality show, a production crew locks themselves inside an abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital that’s supposedly haunted – and it might prove to be all too true. It is often recommended to view the sequel right after this flick which of course was called Grave Encounters 2 [2012].

Hell House LLC [2015] – Five years after an unexplained malfunction causes the death of 15 tour-goers and staff on the opening night of a Halloween haunted house tour, a documentary crew travels back to the scene of the tragedy to find out what really happened. It also spawned two sequels.

Infliction [2014] – In 2011, two brothers documented their murder spree in North Carolina. This is the actual assembled footage reveals in disturbing detail their actions and motives.

Quarantine [2008] – A television reporter and her cameraman are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles fire crew. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartments. They all become trapped inside a building quarantined by the CDC, after the outbreak of a mysterious virus which turns humans into bloodthirsty killers. All communication in and it is stopped; the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.

The Houses October Built 2 [2017] – Recovering from the trauma of being kidnapped last Halloween by the Blue Skeleton – a group who take “extreme haunt” to another level – five friends decide they must face their fears in order to move on. Heading back out on the road to visit more haunted house attractions, signs of the Blue Skeleton start appearing again and a new terror begins.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes [2007] – In an abandoned house in Poughkeepsie, New York murder investigators uncover hundreds of tapes showing decades of a serial killer’s work.

The Taking of Deborah Logan [2014] – An elderly woman battling Alzheimer’s disease agrees to let a film crew document her condition, but what they discover is something far more sinister going on attacking their sanity.

Willow Creek [2013] – Jim and his girlfriend Kelly are visiting the infamous Willow Creek; the alleged home of the original Bigfoot legend roams the forests of North America. Keen to explore more than 50 years of truth, folklore, misidentifications and hoaxes, Kelly goes along for the ride to keep Jim happy, whilst he is determined to prove the story is real by capturing the beast on camera.
