***The Extreme in Any Manner Leaves a Lasting Impression! *** – Baron Craze

Well, greetings friends and fiends, welcome both The Horror Times and September, oh and I think you all enjoyed the August issue so many reviews in many categories therefore, a brief recap, we celebrated Chompfest 2023 with 7 shark horror films, which many of the readers enjoyed The Black Demon with over 8,000 views, a huge thanks. For those unaware while so many sites and Discovery showcase numerous shows, movies, and other reading materials for the third week of July called ‘Shark Week’ we decided to choose the final week of August it is not the last days of summer that ends this year on September 22nd. Hence the Chompfest 2023 will stay on the home page through September. As for the selection very random, aside from one film, I choose it Jaws 2, not just because it’s an anniversary film but it also completes the entire franchise of review films, our first, for the curious the next film series nearing completion if Friday the 13th.

As one might notice there’s a lot of things to discuss we had the return of book reviews and even a game review, that shocked many, a few music reviews, but the film reviews were very plentiful, so much that What the Water Left Behind: Scars [2022] earned over 20,000 views in 7-days, that is the most popular for the past month, the year, in fact – EVER! Huge thanks to everyone who reposted it, tagged it and just read it. Overall, there were 18 new film reviews, while not close to what I designed it was a lot better, and some found the Other Worldly review to be an interesting choice. Scared Stiff [1953] a horror/comedy with a musical twist, the site’s only second review to be of the horror-musical realm mainly the reason besides it being an anniversary was I always finding today’s comedy harder to understand; I feel that comedy that can be told in the ‘light’ is funnier, clever innuendoes always work, alas the household I was raised in I suppose.

Now we have plans for some great reviews in the remaining 122-days of 2023, I’m not going to tell what just great treats and tricks too. These reviews to be multiple headings to present fuller readings for all to enjoy along with the goal to review even more newly released films. A bit of a downside some noticed a drop off in podcasts, been dealing a medication issue that was used to treat a throat infection and it has rendered it as not usable, the singers and voice actors would thoroughly understand this, I know it ruins the Visions of Horror Podcast which affects both the column under the same name and Revisiting Past Horrors column, as well the rest of our shows. Sadly, nothing can be done right now, fret not I continue to build shows and once able I will publish even back dated shows, so nothing is missed.

Lastly, everyone in the Kingdom of Horror knows that the Halloween season is upon us, almost every store has the merchandise available, Yankee Candle announced that this is the last year of the Boney Bunch quite frankly many hoped for some of their standout’s years back reissued or perhaps a return to the Victorian/gothic theme but nope, it appears very dull and tiresome. The creativity has long since swept away like autumn’s leaves in October, which seems to even some affected Dept. 56 merchandise, but will still be stopping by the antique & thrift stores as they always have unique finds. I am also looking forward to slowly venturing out to see some of the Halloween, Hauntings, and other exciting jaunts to be enjoyed.

Until next month – enjoy all the horror you can…. Be sure to scare the ones you love!
