Well fans of horror another month has past, and did you all watch your daily dose of films about zombies, ghosts, vampires, or sheer strangeness? I had the pleasure with a list complied by friends who know me well or others seeking to give me a heavy uneven payback with their selections. So, let’s dive into the films further, the list contains one Alfred Hitchcock film The Birds [1963] and then 3 films which will be covered in the Revisiting Past Horrors March column, those were King Kong [1933] which incidentally was the oldest film on the list, followed-by Dark Feed [2013] and lastly 13 Eerie [2013]. Let’s stay the path of the next two oldest films on the list in second place it was The Ape Man [1943] hence celebrating an 80th anniversary followed by a distance Corridors of Blood [1958] at 65-years of age and since you likely saw in the Editor’s Greeting for May 2023 about celebrating my 50th I thought it would be interesting to start accounting for the films that also marked their 50th birthday there are 8 of them with the oddest, well perhaps strangeness movie called The Baby [1973], prior to this month their 8 others, interesting that another all filtered into this month, perhaps more on going to ramp-up later this year, only future lists know that answer.
Therefore in 31-days I watched 38 films, only missing one day because of personal reasons, and of those film only was a new release; which was Scream Vi [2023], and that equals 97% were anniversaries and the decade of 1970s was the most popular with 11 films; and the final 3 movies were made-for-television flicks.
