Editor’s Greeting for November 2022

*** The Extreme in Any Manner Leaves a Lasting Impression! *** – Baron Craze

Well, friends and fiends, time swiftly marches onward, and the medical issues with myself are slowly turning to the positive, the month of October proved challenging first by trying to do everything I used to do and balancing the new health issues alas that was shockingly a bad thought, but things did right themselves so it didn’t appear like a fiery train on the rails. Recalling the past month, two-years after the pandemic everyone wanted to be out doing something, and that is exactly I wanted too, but even the best laid plans didn’t meet expectations, think about all the ghost tours, spooky locations, provoking spirt journeys, movies galore from the Universal classics Creature from the Black Lagoon [1954] to the Halloween Ends [2022] or as I refer to it as Halloween Lames to Terrifier 2 [2022], which could use more gore and violence perhaps in part 3, still haven’t matched my 3 explicit kill scenes and then a special engagement of Dawn of the Dead in 3D [1978]. We also celebrated our 5th anniversary as a young Horror Site, and more eyes enjoying our YouTube page, we have plans to expand it in 2023, as is customary unlike other sites in our beloved genre, we often take off the month of October the reason is simple folks are already slammed with plenty of activities and our view count numbers dip on the month overall. Therefore, why force it just wait, besides the way I am feeling lately I need extended rest. You likely notice we only included one week of new comics, this because a new person is handling this item on the issues, we have a few fiends that help on the backend.

Onto an interesting topic that came before me, and one that included an a round top discussion, with multiple people who work behind the scenes on this site as you all know we are the only site to do the Remembrance of the Dead which feeds into our Testament of Horror (i.e. Horror History), well an actress named Kay Parker died on October 14th, starred in one horror an adult film named Dracula Sucks (1978). The primary question do we include her, and the debate roared to life, first the jokes and giggling started with regard to the title, because that is what a vampire does do, sucks, to feed and survive. However, in seriousness, it is not directly sexploitation though elements are obviously included in the movie and the actual movie is based on Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula as per the opening credits, therefore from a technical standpoint need inclusion on Bram’s connection to the movie. In addition, what do with other adult (pornographic) stars that have crossed into the horror genre such as Ginger Lynn was in The Devil’s Rejects [2005] or Michelle Bauer which some recall from Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers [1988], and dozens more, hence the answer is very simple include them into the tally. Lastly, on the subject one person pointed out many composers have contributed music to adult films, and it’s not frowned upon, such as Ennio Morricone (The Thing [1982]) and they are right a double standard exists, therefore we worked to resolve the situation/ problem so you dear readers need not worry about that.

Finally, comment on Terrifier 2 [2022] this movie showed that the independent filmmaker’s market is alive and well-supported by horror fans, especially at the box office, while no guarantee everyone can enjoy the same response, but theater owners should open themselves to the showing of local movies for a week in midnight showings. My opinion the film could have used more gore, and violence, it didn’t have enough of the hideous and violent kills my warp mind could think of, therefore Damien Leone contact me.
