Once inside the mansion, they discover they are not alone. Attacked and bound by their captors, they are spirited away from the home and released in the middle of nowhere. As punishment for breaking into their ancestral home, the Redwick’s will hunt the four friends like animals on their sprawling, secluded estate grounds. The blood sport has been a decades-long, sadistic family entertainment.

BLOOD DYNASTY

  • Comes to Blu-ray this September from Darkside Releasing
  • BLOOD DYNASTY, director Chris Alexander’s 2017 “spiritual sequel” to his award-winning existential vampire films BLOOD FOR IRINA (2012) and QUEEN OF BLOOD (2014) is set to release via genre film distributor Darkside Releasing on September 6th, a deluxe special edition Blu-ray release packed with new bonus features.
  • Like its predecessors, BLOOD DYNASTY is a psychological, experimental exploration of the concept of vampirism that picks up where QUEEN OF BLOOD left off. Unlike a traditional vampire mythos, the character of Irina (once again portrayed by Shauna Henry), is a sort of karmic force, reinvented in each picture in a different form, serving a different purpose. This time, Irina is called forth like a ghost from her watery grave by a lonely woman living near the same haunted motel that Irina – in a different lifetime and alternate timeline.

R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town

  • Both Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase Are Set to Star
  • Synopsis: When twelve-year-old Mike and his friend, Karen, go to see a horror movie called Zombie Town, the last thing they expect is for the title characters to come down off the screen and chase them through the theater. And it’s not popcorn these hungry creatures want to chomp on―it’s human brains!

The Invitation

  • Brief Discussion
  • The synopsis:
  • After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test…and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. Play: Rhaedie – Exorcist

The Exorcist

  • Ellen Burstyn Accepted Her Return to ‘The Exorcist’ in Exchange for Funding Scholarship Programs
  • Burstyn is headed back to the upcoming Exorcist trilogy being put together by David Gordon Green at Blumhouse.
  • This time she thought “The next thought that came to mind was: ‘I feel like the devil is asking my price and the next thought that came to mind was ‘my price is a scholarship program for talented students in our master’s degree program at Pace University.’” So, Burstyn managed to get the studio to up their end and she got exactly what she wanted. She got a scholarship program for talented young adults. Pretty amazing and it ultimately proves that Burstyn is a complete badass.

Horror of Dracula

1958 – Not Rated – 1h 22m

Director: Terence Fisher

Writer: Jimmy Sangster; Bram Stoker

Stars: Peter Cushing ; Christopher Lee ; Melissa Stribling

Summary: Jonathan Harker takes employment with Count Dracula, ostensibly to catalog his vast library. In fact, he is on a mission to kill the Count, a vampire. Before he can do so however, the Count gains the upper hand and Harker soon finds himself as one of the walking dead. Dracula has taken an interest in Harker’s fiancée, Lucy Holmwood and it is left to Harker’s colleague, Dr. Van Helsing to protect her. He has difficulty convincing Lucy’s brother, Arthur Holmwood, of the dangers or even the existence of vampires.

Taglines:

  • Don’t Dare See It…Alone!
  • …now she’s one of the dead-alive brides of DRACULA!
  • Sensational SHOCK and THRILL SHOW!
  • Who Will Be His Bride Tonight?

Trivia:

  • This movie entirely takes place in what appears to be a fictionalized version of Germany in 1885.
  • Dracula only has one bride in this movie, rather than the three of the novel. The Count doesn’t have the ability to turn into bats, wolves, or swirls of fog in this movie. He would gain some of these abilities in later Hammer movies.

My Opinion:

  • Terence Fisher great job
  • Gothic period setting perfect

Play: Mystic Prophecy – Dracula

The Plague of the Zombies [1966]

Approved – 1h 30m

Director: John Gilling

Writer: Peter Bryan

Stars: Jacqueline Pearce; Michael Ripper; André Morell; Diane Clare

Summary: 1860, Young workers are dying because of a mysterious epidemic in a little village in Cornwall. Doctor Thompson is helpless and asks professor James Forbes for help. The professor and his daughter Sylvia travel to Thomson. Terrible things happen soon, beyond imagination or reality. Dead people are seen near an old, unused mine. Late people seem to live suddenly. Professor Forbes presumes that black magic is involved and someone has extraordinary power. He doesn’t know how close he is: the dead become alive because of a magic voodoo-ritual, and so they must serve their master as mindless zombies…

Tagline: Only The Lord Of The Dead Could Unleash Them!

Trivia:

  • Filmed back-to-back with “The Reptile(1966),” using many of the same sets, most noticeably the main village set on the back lot at Bray Studios.

My Opinion:

  • mix of voodoo, grave robbing and the undead,
  • Make for a great watch party with White Zombie [1932] and The Serpent and the Rainbow [1988]
  • creepy and well-acted

The Devil Rides Out

Director: Terence Fisher

Writer: Richard Matheson; Dennis Wheatley

Stars: LEE; Charles Gray, Paul Eddington

Summary: Nicholas to his friends, and his friend Rex Van Ryn (Leon Greene) pay a surprise visit to their ward, Simon Aron (Patrick Mower), the son of an old friend who, before passing away, asked them to watch over young Simon. When they arrive at Simon’s newly-purchased house in the English countryside, they are surprised to see that Simon is throwing a party for a mysterious group of 12 friends. The Duc, who is knowledgeable about the Black Arts, suspects that Simon’s party guests are actually a coven of Satanists and that Simon and his friend Tanith about to be baptized by powerful leader Mocata (Charles Gray) in order to serve the forces of evil.

Taglines:

  • The beauty of woman… the demon of darkness… the unholy union of “The Devil’s Bride”!
  • All the demons of hell – summoned to earth to claim “The Devil’s Bride!”

Trivia:

  • Christopher Lee called this his favorite Hammer film.
  • Mocata was based on the notorious Satanist Aleister Crowley in the original novel. Author Dennis Wheatley invited him to dinner for research purposes.
  • Scenes of this movie were used in the 1982 video clip “The Number of the Beast” by Iron Maiden. Features 10 films in it among them is: Nosferatu [1922]; How to Make a Monster [1958]; War of the Colossal Beast [1958]; The Screaming Skull [1958]

My Opinion:

  • great scene of the Angel of Death scene
  • Satanic shocker
  • moral of the story. Which path should you choose…Lucifer or light, left or right.
