It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a film so I’d though I’d come back with Little Monsters from 2019; now this isn’t the one with Fred Savage, but a zombie film, rather I think a zombie comedy. I recently saw it on Hulu and enjoyed it very much; it stars Lupita Nyong’o (Us (2019)) and Alexander England (Alien: Covenant (2017)) and directed by Abe Forsythe (his only horror film) to date.

The movie starts with a deadbeat musician, Dave (England) who is fighting with his girlfriend; they ultimately break up and he moves in with his sister Tess (Kat Stewart); being the idiot he is he takes his nephew to his ex-girlfriend’s without letting his sister know. Ultimately, Tess tries to kick him out but needs him to take her son to his school trip with a bunch of other kindergarteners to a farm; while on the bus trip; Dave starts hitting on his teacher Miss Caroline (Nyong’o) who sees right through him. Once at the farm, kids start gathering around Teddy McGiggle (Josh Gad (Razortooth (2007))) who is a TV personality for children (although not a good role model). Soon we start to see a bunch of zombies invading the area doing what they do best biting other guests. Miss Caroline keeps the children calm who don’t know what’s going on and gets them to a safe place. Unbeknownst to them the military steps in and wants to bomb the farm where the children are; they assume everyone there is dead. After a series of events, Mr. McGiggle has a predictable end (serves him right!) the rest make it to a tractor and wagon and merrily drive through the farm and we see a funny scene of the zombies copying whatever the children are singing and doing. In the end we see Dave come full circle, which is heartwarming to the average viewer, but I won’t go into the details for those who haven’t seen the movie; except to say I’ve never seen a more adorable Darth Vader save an animal and battle zombies.

This flick is fun, but beware it’s Rated-R so if your kids want to see it be sure to watch it with them because it does have some adult themes in the film. The zombies are typical to other films though not the fast-moving kind. Like I said earlier they are funny in the sense that when the children sang they repeated whatever they did – it lightened the moment. I do recommend this if you want a zombie film with comedy.
