Ten genre film critics from the HORRORDVDZONE website converge at a warehouse for a party on the eve of attending a local horror convention. Shortly after their guest of honor, the infamous indie scream queen Raven Rinaldi (Leanna Chamish) arrives, the power is cut and the doors are electrified trapping everyone inside the building. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting guests, a mysterious masked assassin begins murdering the attendees using a variety of gruesome methods, recreating the notorious kill scenes from the various movies reviewed on their website. Turns out the killer is a deranged, jilted filmmaker who is determined to enact revenge on all of the critics who gave disparaging reviews to his rebuffed slasher opus “Dead Hunt.”
Brimming with practical gore and sumptuous sleaze, DEAD HUNT marks the final directorial effort from Baltimore, Maryland’s legendary, low-budget maestro Don Dohler (Night Beast, The Alien Factor, Fiend) and his Timewarp Films collaborator Joe Ripple (Harvesters, Stakes) and remains an elusive puzzle piece in the Dohler oeuvre as well as an underseen SOV slasher curio from one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most beloved and inspiring regional horror auteurs. Featuring performances by Dennis Hill (The Wire) along with Dohler vets Leanna Chamish (Harvesters, Vampire Sisters) and George Stover (Desperate Living, Blood Massacre), Saturn’s Core is delighted to bring DEAD HUNT to Blu-Ray, marking its return to physical media for the first time since its initial, self-distributed DVD-R release nearly 20 years ago.
