***The Extreme in Any Manner Leaves a Lasting Impression! *** – Baron Craze
Well greetings horror fans, friends, and fiends, what you are reading is our 100th issue, an incredible feat all thanks to you the readers, so many changes from issue one back in October 2017. We are going to attempt to pull off a stellar issue, there are some reasons why this difficult as we have NDAs why I can’t fully express them currently. You might notice a fresh update for the 35th anniversary of The Silence of the Lambs review, here is the reason for that when first done back 2014 my style was definitely more of a fan oriented praise than review, and since then my style and tone has greatly advanced therefore as I first started a dissection the review for slight improvements I reason a full teardown was best and now a 2,000 word masterpiece is in its place. While life sometimes brings challenges I’ve learned to start to overcome them and be more positive so the site can be on top again.
Speaking of that, horror films are appearing on more streaming sites and in the theaters sadly not all of it is good, for example on Netflix, Thrash [2026] which plays out similar to Crawl [2019] and contains one of the dumbest Dynamite explosions I have seen in a while. Sadly, sometimes I fear filmmakers either do not know how to end their films or they worry how to finish the film – scary, traumatic, funny, or just a finality. I recently saw Hokum [2026], started with a storytelling with some odd bits and then into a murder mystery with witches and personal demons and back to the oddest ending. It had a solid middle and progressed well but then letdown finish; and after reading some of the other user reviews they had the same feeling on how it ended which is sad.
Baron’s Crypt will officially return May 23rd, my birthday, and then every two weeks, and I’m using this month to play catch up with all our columns, so I use next month to get back to all reviews that were planned for this year. It’s a lot and our writers are stepping up to make sure it happens.
