In the past, the month of August was considered both the winding down of summer and the springboard for the opening volley for the Halloween season, however this year it was different. First, in fact we have the final week of the month as Chompfest this is our version of Discovery’s Shark Week, which often occurs mid-July, hence our avoidance with that marketing issue. However, this year I encountered a hospital stay of two days which led to a recovery of two days of rest at home, enjoying a total of 10-flicks (five on both Friday and Saturday). I watched seven shark films, but six were during the final week. Overall, the viewing for the month truly swung into one of the spectrums to the other from devil worshipping movies to horror comedies, and suspense thrillers included for good measure. There were nine films on the list that were previously reviewed, though one was done by 3C who I asked to recall her view about the film, The Skeleton Key. As for the guts, in 29 days of available days I watched 46-films, with the 2010 decade being the most popular with 15-flicks. The oldest film on the list To Catch a thief, celebrating 70-years, although this is Alfred Hitchcock’s movie it is also a suspense thriller. Therefore, our top three movies were Black Sunday enjoying a 65-year anniversary and tied for second and third at 55-years-old was House of Dark Shadows and Mark of the Devil.ouse of Dark Shadows and Mark of the Devil
