I have two things to mention, it should be noted that I am correcting the spelling and grammar of the summaries from IMDb, I just cannot allow the errors to exist. Secondly, the inclusion of two interesting movies and how they differ completely in their acceptance by audiences and yet do share a few interesting traits they Friday the 13th and Peeping Tom, the first film gladly welcomed while the second was panned and almost banned for the barbaric stylized kills (considered tame by 1980 standards) and the brash title, with a character who’s traits were similar to Norman Bates.

Friday the 13th [1980]
SUMMARY PER IMDB: A group of teenage camp counselors attempt to re-open an abandoned summer camp with a tragic past, but they are stalked by a mysterious, relentless killer.
WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: Only Jason’s Mother knows.
THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 6.5/10
MY RATE THEN: 6.0/10
HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: Oh hell no, now I know I might get some flak because I have rating below the IMDb and for the massive fan base, but bear with me it is primarily because of few minor factors, such as Brenda, early in the movie if you all recall Ned dangerously fires an arrow at a target near her, however later in the film when she’s lured to her demise we don’t get to see that kill, nor Bill’s. as Ned his is masked in secrecy to try to hide the identity. Also, Harry Manfredini much later in life admitted using a tad more than just inspiration of fellow composer Bernard Herrman’s Psycho [1960] score. Overall, it is fine movie that launched many sequels and inspired the entire slasher subgenre.

Peeping Tom [1960]
SUMMARY PER IMDB: A young man murders women, using a movie camera to film their dying expressions of terror.
WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: Unknown
THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 8.0/10
MY RATE THEN: 8.0/10
HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: No, this is a good thriller, with an very interesting storyline though for various reasons the film and director were blackballed by the film industry/ The plot is countless years ahead of itself, this movie has a lot in common with or video camera/phone recording obsessed mentality.

Raiders of the Lost Shark [2015]
SUMMARY PER IMDB: A prehistoric shark is released into the waters near a small lake community as a result of an oil drilling accident and proceeds to wreak havoc on nearby swimmers.
WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: April 2018, and I wish I had not seen it.
THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 1.7/10
MY RATE THEN: 1.5/10
HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: It definitely has not changed, and likely never will, it is dumb and wretched movie without any value. The story if you can call it that contains lame characters, disastrous locations, and horrendous CGI. This film was featured in our DOA stack and should serve as a warning that not everyone may work in the film business.

Re-Animator [1985]
SUMMARY PER IMDB: After an odd new medical student arrives on campus, a dedicated local and his girlfriend become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue.
WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: Sometime in the 80s
THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 7.2/10
MY RATE THEN: 7.5/10
HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: No, as the film embodies the definition of horror, recalling the word itself is harsh an air of brutality, and layered in uncomfortable tones, which defines the genre. The movie enjoys a measured usage of black humor and a nod to Frankenstein [1931] and Richard Band’s music which remixes Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho [1960]. This delivers the good for the average splatterpunk and thoroughly enjoy watching this again.

Cruel [2015]
SUMMARY PER IMDB: ‘Kruel’ – is a horror/thriller feature length movie about a psychotic killer who masquerades as an ice cream man in order to get closer to the objects of his affection.
WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: No clue I wonder what made me watch it.
THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 3.8/10
MY RATE THEN: 3.5/10
HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: No, the film first if I recall correctly kept changing its title, first Cruel to Kruel as if that would improve its outcome on viewing audiences – nope. The movie has officially switched back to Cruel yet continued throughout the film to bounce around on what genre it sought to be though if you are fearful of clowns this low budget faire might interest just for one time.
