A wonderful trip down memory lane, especially regarding two films from the 1950s, simple time a horror comedy and practical model effects for a classic creature feature. However, in this revisited I did stumble across a nightmarish produced movie and yet finding those treasure of where people associated with them have recently passed.

A Blood Story [2015]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: Three strangers find themselves at a villa, each with the same goal of discovering the Fountain of Youth, rumored to be nearby. One by one they succumb to the carnal perversions and depraved delights provided by the villa; unaware they are pawns in the resurrection of a centuries old evil.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: July 2015

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 3.8/10

MY RATE THEN: 3.5/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: No, it is retelling of the infamous Bathory tale, though many hope some like Robert Eggers (The Witch [2015]) will one day do film on this character. However, for this movie it is poor representation, the cast strives for the best the story is simply weak.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: February 2020

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 1.6/10

MY RATE THEN: 1.0/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: No way, this is poor excuse for a movie, it defies words to describe, except that watching was bad, but I saw it twice and now my eyes and mind both hurt from abysmal mess.

Caesar and Otto’s Paranormal Halloween [2015]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: Paternal half-brothers Caesar (Dave Campfield) and Otto (Paul Chomicki) live out some of horror’s most terrifying scenes when they agree to house sit in a home filled with ghostly visions, levitating objects and possessions. This hilarious horror pays homage to classics The Exorcist (1973), The Amityville Horror (1979), Sinister (2012), Insidious (2010), and more, and boasts an all-star genre cast including Tiffany Shepis, Brinke Stevens, Vernon Wells and Sean Whalen.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: January 2016

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 5.6/10

MY RATE THEN: 5.6/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: Not really, the comedy harkens back to comedic teams of old, yet classy, while the jokes are crass and crude. Campfield created this movie on a meager $10k with of friends, favors, and fans of his works, he also took the time reference over 25-horror- films, so makes for interesting beverage game.

Race with the Devil [1975]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: Two couples vacationing together in an R.V. from Texas to Colorado are terrorized after they witness a murder during a Satanic ritual.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: I strongly believed during the late 80s.

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 6.6/10

MY RATE THEN: 6.5/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: No, I have always enjoyed this movie, just something harkens me to view every time I would see it on a cable station on television and same goes for streaming sites. Peter Fonda and Warren Oates worked well as buddies, noting the recent passing of Loretta Swit makes seeing it a tad bittersweet, although the way it ends fits so well.

Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy [1955]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: Two bumbling Americans stumble on the discovery of a lifetime when their search for a mummy leads them to a sacred medallion that holds the key to buried treasure.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: late 70s

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 6.4/10

MY RATE THEN: 6.0/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: First I am a huge Abbott and Costello, watching the routines still brings a laugh, however my rating is not changing. The film is not without flaws, never call themselves by the right character titles, and the stories were rehash comedies of long ago, that grew tiresome from the audiences. The comedy on screen at times feels forced and that never wins over audiences.

The Rezort [2015]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: The ReZort, a safari park, offers paying guests the opportunity to kill as many zombies as they please following an outbreak.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: October 2016

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 5.3/10

MY RATE THEN: 6.6/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: Yes, I was this movie was nearly 10 years ago, and my views and knowledge of cinema has greatly change. In the course of time, the zombie tale in the movie which uses Jurassic Park as the basis to create the movie, seems worn down, and does not hold up as well to compared to others in the zombie genre. Therefore, I would lower the rating to 5.5/10

It Came from Beneath the Sea [1955]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: A giant, radioactive octopus rises from the Philippine Trench to terrorize the North American Pacific Coast.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: Early 80s

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 6.0/10

MY RATE THEN: 6.0/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: No, it is a classic creature feature, which a special subgenre for many horrors it is akin to the monster flicks. The major key is the believability for us the viewers to immerse ourselves in the storyline and suspend our disbelief as we enjoy the effects, which one hopes or practical or conducted with camera tricks rather CGI. That is what makes this classic film from the 50s, so enjoyable, now it gives nod to the receptionism that women scientists have and exposes the gullibility of men in subtle tone.

Lifeforce [1985]

SUMMARY PER IMDB: A race of space vampires arrives in London and infects the populace, beginning an apocalyptic descent into chaos.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE ORIGINALLY: Unknown

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 6.1/10

MY RATE THEN: 6.5/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGED: Yes, but only slightly to a 6.0/10 that is because of the storyline causes a few ripples which lead to some troublesome issues; overall not nearly enough to destroy the plot. The film since its release has garnished a loyal following becoming a cult classic, even made subtle reference on Mike & Molly television series, while catering to the target audience of teen boys with plenty of T&A.
