This month proved to be to an interesting month of viewership, as I recalled it was tough to watch the films as only one eye was functioning at best partially so most of the movies I knew well as to listen and form the images in my mind. A serious challenge for any cinema viewer to attempt. There were a few I had reviewed previously seven of them and five which are celebrating anniversaries this year and are part of the Revisiting Past Horrors for January. Now for the true guts, in January the film A Haunting in Venice [2023] which is based on Agatha Christie novel “Halloween Party” (1969) was viewed as she died on January 12, 1976 and while we often do remembrance for one’s date of death this time we do note his birth Edgar Allan Poe born January 19, 1809 and viewed three films based on his writings, two classic and one from the modern era. There were three top anniversary films the first was The Phantom of the Opera [1925] celebrating 100-years, and then Eyes Without a Face [1960] and The Dunwich Horror [1970] with each 65^th and 55^th respectively enjoying lasting anniversaries. Lastly, in 31 days I watched 38 films, with the 1990s being the most popular decade with 9 films.
