***The Extreme in Any Manner Leaves a Lasting Impression! *** – Baron Craze
Greetings, horror fans, fiends, and friends, yes I am back, not at 100% yet, but with time and patience I am striving forward to return to full strength, hence I missed the March Greeting. However, one might notice that the podcast shows are returning, Sinister Death, the Abomination to Decency leading the way with Hard Rock Madness and Shredding Metal Beasts, now launching too; fret not the others will be coming along soon. For those unaware that includes, Mysterious Void (our Gothic Industrial show), Synth Pathways, Screaming Horror (Horror Punk and Horror theme music) as well as Baron’s Crypt operating on a bi-weekly basis, in May hopefully Visions of Horror will launch its third season, which is weekly what-horror-did-see kind of show.
Now, onto the Oscars, ugh, two aspects to cover first the in memoriam, the powers that be, clearly screwed it up, missing Tony Todd, Peter Jason, and Shannon Doherty among several others is poor performance. If they need help in amassing the list they could look at our detailed lists of Remembrance of the Dead, we merely seek the credit. The second is most definitely the awards themselves, an insult that Demi Moore did not win, we all know the Academy does not play/vote fairly, they denounce and frown on the Horror Genre, allowing them to win often in the Makeup or Visual Effects categories only. However, the fault also lies with the studio and marketing team, let me explain. If you had a film about a cold calculated cannibal killer and include another homicidal monster who is skinning women, we might think of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre [1974], but it is The Silence of the Lambs [1991] which once swept the Oscars by calling the film a psychological thriller. Therefore, The Substance should have used both ageism and body-shaming, and it likely would of garnish many more votes, especially aligning it in the same vein as a psychological thriller. Alas a missed opportunity.
Here at The Horror Times, we constantly strive forward in our attempts to have accurate reviews and information, because even as AI advances and some hint that humans will become obsolete in many fields, one thing is for sure that the system will contain errors. Let me explain, I was at Barnes & Nobles, saw a new issue of Scream (UK magazine) #88 Jan/Feb 2025, my girl asked me is Deep Blue Sea really 25-years old, and paused stated no, it’s 26-years-old. The article was likely penned in 2024 but not published until now, but if that article makes it way to the agathism for AI source material incorrect shall be released. Although, one good thing, after 30-years of asking B&N finally established a horror section.
Nevertheless, let the horror freely flow into your eyes, and allow the sounds of fear crept into your ears, bringing your senses to a tremble as we all indulge our love for the genre.
