Well June didn’t exactly fit into the plan previously set out, mainly due to the fact of a commitment to a project that I was hired to do, as most celebrities and entertainers in the field we all have a worthy endeavor we care about for myself and The Horror Times, that is Multiple Sclerosis. This year of 2024 marks the 10th annual event, it has grown each year, bigger more involvement with more community supporters taking over temporary street intersections and storefronts all to raise money for the cause to help those afflicted to have an easier life. Of course, this year it was the hottest day so far in southern NJ, 99 degrees and a heat index of 105, not to mention the heat off the roadway. However, with the donations, for food and water to help the volunteers and other various items it made the 6-hours – the duration of numerous permits fly by, and everyone was safe in the end. As the month carried for the event on June 22nd, it took time away from me working on reviews, podcasts, and the site general, but it was a worthy and important sacrifice.
Now July is the time for shark week to takeover on many streaming services and other vlogs and blogs including horror sites themselves with conduct ranking of films or discussions on the shark info that’s to Discovery. While this month let’s those bizarre folks to enjoy Christmas in July, it also has an advantage for the Halloween holiday fans, as stores start to release the goodies, often Cracker Barrel is first, and a few others, but most will wait until after labor day and the return of kiddies to school, before rolling the bigger items.
On a side note, many ask if there’s any time, I would create a script something I share with others, well actually there are three projects two are religious-horror a feature and a short while another is a horror feature, very unique and different with very explicit and unique kill scenes. Frankly, what I went through in my life has me traveling in this direction of writing, so I find that the real experiences are a great way to conjure new horrors. I feel most writers will create a scene but have no place to put it and sometimes force it into something mundane, – wrong let yourself go for the extreme is has the lasting impression.
Oh, before I forget we are introducing a new ‘New Releases Format’ this will be a work in progress as we design it handle the more streaming i.e. VOD market of films which it tougher than merely DVD/Blu-rays as the media is changing and we want to keep the horror fans thoroughly inform as we are one of the last few remaining sites to generate this information.
Lastly, a friend of mine asked me to determine what the title of a horror film, his description was just this “ghosts rise out of the water, and it had some unknown actors and actresses in it, with lots of screaming…” Yep, that is all he had for me let’s see out of 53,150 horror films world-wide and for a genre that started in 1896. I carefully thought it before the water was it a lake or an ocean – “ocean” so a horror film with nautical theme, was there a ship or boat “yes an old one with skeletons” – The Ghost Galleon which is part of the Tombs of the Blind franchise, and showed him a picture, and got confirmation, and informed that they aren’t quite ghosts more of living dead… This is something I get often from a lot of fans, whether its band asking because of concept for song or something else to the just determining a horror film title.
