Looking back upon this month, there are only two movies that celebrated anniversaries and they couldn’t be more different, a low budget anthology film versus an experimental Alfred Hitchcock that used two real life killers as the basis of the storyline. That alone should raise interest for the curious reader.

Sinister Visions [2013]

SUMMARY: Five sinister stories blending bloody horror and dark humor, including demonic archaeological finds, zombie girlfriends, murderous ex-wives, nagging mothers, and a serial killer gleefully recounting his brutal crimes.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE: May 2014

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 4.5/10

MY RATE THEN: 4.5/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: No, it’s still a good anthology collection of movies, which included Succubus; My Undead Girlfriend; Mother Knows Best; A Woman Scorned and Genital Genocide. The third story features the very good actor Kim Sønderholm, the stories truly varied shockingly from downright exploitative to simply bizarre and frankly what more could one want with a low budget anthology flick.

Rope [1948]

SUMMARY: Two men attempt to prove they committed the perfect crime by hosting a dinner party after strangling their former classmate to death.

WHEN I SAW IT DATE: Multiple Dates

THE IMDB RATE AT TIME OF REV: 8.0/10

MY RATE THEN: 8.0/10

HAS MY VIEW CHANGE: No, it hasn’t I am foremost a huge Alfred Hitchcock fan. Having every book and scrap of information of the director’s style and seeing his films countless times over, this movie works on some interesting intellectual and philosophical adversaries it has more of cat (James Stewart) curiously toying with his prey.
