Welcome Horror Fanatics, to another month of Visions of Horror this column opposed to our podcast show of the same name is going to give you a full listing of the films that were watched in the past month. Fans of our beloved genre are very loyal and all have our favorite films of will watch over and over countless times so much that we’re able to quote lines of dialogue it’s fun to find them on a list however aside from many favorites it often shows the unique or forgotten treasures in horror psychological thrillers and horror sci-fi crossover movies. The themes were Nature Attacks, Voodoo, Slashers, Hideaway Locations, Vampires, Zombies, Reincarnations, Possessions and Devilish Deeds, therefore a healthy mixture of nutty creations.

One important aspect of this column is that I’m choosing approximately 1% of the films being watched in an average month while friends and some other people out there are choosing to send in their options for movies, I should watch in an average month in addition often enough movies are fine themselves to hit on their anniversary dates which sometimes means I’m watching more than one movie per day. For example, anyone who’s familiar with my viewing habits during the month of October is quite shocked at how many movies I can watch in one day at least five. The question to you do you trust what others would choose for you to watch in one month from the horror genre or do you seek total control of what you want to watch? It’s a challenge, isn’t it? That you have the trust of those around you who understand what your viewing habits are either going to cater to your desire or steer clear of them making you explore movies that you wouldn’t indulge in beforehand the good, the bad, or the worst. In 28 days, I watched 39-movies, and only missed out on one-day of no horror watching due to medical testing, which was shockingly February 14, it also means that on the last day of the month I watched three films. The were two new flicks on the list, first Knock at the Cabin and thick dialogue driven religious thriller Consecration, and the oldest movie of the month Mystery of the Wax Museum [1933] marking its 90-year, which actually would be remade 20-years later as House of Wax [1953]. As the second oldest as we always do note we have a three tied Diary of a Madman [1963], The Haunted Palace [1963] and Twice-Told Tales [1963] all tallying in at 60-year anniversaries. In addition, this month 1970s as the most popular was likely due to the fact, that 5-films on the list were television horror creations that dominated the market until basic cable channels took over in the 80s and proceeded forward to this day, only one other TV-horror was accounted for in 2003. As always with a holiday of Valentine’s Day I saw My Bloody Valentine [1981] though this time on an actual movie screen, with my friends in the back row a total of 6 and two other random people in the small Regal theater. It was shocking the lack of attendees, the horror fans always want the classics re-released but if there’s no support for it, theaters will stop the endeavor – those two other folks left early disgusted with the film.
