***The Extreme in Any Manner Leaves a Lasting Impression! *** – Baron Craze
First, welcome to another month of The Horror Times, and while January didn’t go exactly to plan, it was an improvement from the past, a few things got sorted out on the medical side. Alas, this month and overall, in life it really shows what I am passionate about from dedicated bonds of friendship, I say to someone I’m your friend they know I got their back to the point of the old phrase who you call when you gotta move a body. I also have the passion for the horror genre, every aspect of it each movie, book, comic, game location – all of it! In addition, it’s the love I have for those truly supportive and endearing to me, and while this last one might seem trivial to some, I am proud always to say I am the son of and thoroughly proud U.S. Marine, my father who served in World War II, and on the 13th of this month it will mark his 3rd anniversary of passing, by the way 13 was his and my favorite number.
But as of now, we continue forward, deliver the goods, the Baron Craze’s Visons of Horror Podcast show is doing well, a slow growth and I think as the show gets a steadier flow to it the popularity like the other 7-podcasts will grow nicely. While February is the shortest month of the year, it does skimp on the horror from Infinity Pool noting a trim by removal of an X-rated quality scene because adults can’t handle that sort of material – oh please to Knock at the Cabin (honestly, I have not been interested in many of M. Night Shyamalan movies of late but this has my attention, and I am venturing to see others such as Consecration and Fear all in the effort to support the genre. It also as led to people in the audience recognizing me and discussing the films before and afterwards, the crowd getting larger, and management totally cool with it, as I am seeing matinees.
in addition, to having a full month of projects, I am working on my beloved fundraiser/Coin Toss for Multiple Sclerosis which I do for a dear friend; and we have a new column adding into the new issue which is where I reflect on past films and reviews of them, judge my views change, my cinematic experiences and knowledge changed, perhaps finding new aspects once overlooked and did judge it unfairly, has the IMDb rating change for a film to qualify it must be both celebrating an anniversary. For example, think about The Green Inferno (2013) was considered a brutal cannibal horror film upon its initial release by some though I recalled I panned parts of it therefore is that view still holding true or has it changed. I think everyone’s views change over time, it is interesting to go back and read previous words and reviews and discover deeper levels.
It has been tough to balance the numerous medical appointments, various writings and podcasts so it is a struggle but with one’s time always limited, and a bell that might ring at any time, one must fight for every opportunity granted to them. Therefore I am focusing deeply into my workload but always available to discuss horror films, the genre and projects with fans and filmmakers, nailing their taglines for them and assisting them in market their work to the masses.
Now, let’s have more of the villains and evil winning in horror flicks, like Smile [2022] did stop with such wholesome and happy endings, allow it to reflect on the brutalization found in life the heartache, turmoil and suffering of the characters, imagines and situations.
Until next month – enjoy the 2023 journey and dazzling your eyes with Visions of Horror!
