When my kids first heard at school that there’s another Hotel Transylvania movie they were so excited and couldn’t stop talking about it. My son, Mikey asked me every week when it was coming out so when July 13th came I new we would be soon going to the theater.

Hotel Transylvania Summer Vacation returns for its third installment and is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. This time around Drac (Adam Sandler) is lonely. His daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) suggests they go on a vacation so she surprises him and the family with a cruise. Once on board the ship they meet Captain Ericka (Kathryn Hahn) who unbeknownst to the monsters is a descendent of Van Helsing. Ericka thinks something is up when a romance starts to bloom between her father, Drac & Ericka and tries to keep them apart. With the help of her grandfather, Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan) Ericka tries to kill him with things like garlic in food. She then lures Drac to an island where all of the monsters would be destroyed. You’ll have to watch the film to see what happens.

This film keeps going with the story from the first Hotel Transylvania. It’s very kid friendly and has quite a few laughs throughout the movie. My son just loved it. He loves anything with animation. He loved the werewolves in the film which he called “doggies.” He can’t wait for there to be another one. Personally, I think it’s a great way to introduce children to characters like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, etc.… in a way that’s not scary. In addition, one scene I found relatable came early on with Drac saying words for a date the smartphone miss hearing it, I don’t know about you but every time I say something it never gets it right.

The funniest part of the movie is with the Werewolves, they find out that there’s a place on the ship where you can drop off your children and have alone time so, that’s exactly what they did. The only thing is that the workers were expecting 1 or 2 however about 50 little ones came running into the play area. Now “Mommy & Daddy” are free to do what they want. It’s very comical, many parents can relate to the scene.

If you are seeking a family film I recommend this.
